  • A NHS service provider (Turnover £8 million): as well as regular financial control I negotiated and drafted important contracts with Primary Care Trusts to provide out-of-hours cover; these have been both highly profitable and comprehensive . I acted as finance director to this company which was acquired by a much larger chain.
  • An estate agency and property management group: Financial control, tax structuring and monthly reporting on a joint venture with a major Hong Kong company.
  • A computer security advisory boutique: I have acted as a mentor to this group for some time and have been awarded an equity stake from the controlling shareholder. I provide financial controls, oversee the finance system and deal with one-off consultancy roles.
  • An Estate agency specialising in overseas property: I provided support to the in-house controller, to the owners and in dealing, successfully, with an Inland Revenue investigation.
  • A contracting and house building group: Devising project valuation tools, assisting in tax structures, share valuations, raising finance, and acting as mentor to the Board.
  • Property Development and Trading Group: Taxation advice on Stamp Duty and losses. Business structuring (including a consideration of LLPs) and assistance on a large project in Liverpool.
  • An internet games company: Obtaining a listing on AIM and acting as finance director.
  • A specialised recruitment agency: Planning and assisting in a change from an in-house team to an expanded virtual team able to increase revenue without increasing cost. Profits available to the owner more than trebled.
  • A cosmetics and hair importer: rebuilding the accounts function, providing finance control and financial mentoring devising a corporate strategy in France and working on incentivising staff.
  • A French sports car company: Acted as financial director in a rescue attempt on a small French company operating in Brittany, and negotiated a sale of a roadster manufactured in Lyons.
  • An events facilities management company: advised while a partnership, put in controls, devised tax and cash strategies and acted as mentor.
  • A nursing home company: Built reporting structures for a company with two homes (plus a learning difficulties unit). Close liaison with the company’s bankers as well as reviewing for fraud and credit controlling problems. I acted as finance director to this company.
  • A corporate finance boutique: Business structure strategy, financial controls and mentoring.
  • A celebrity PR business: providing the in-house accounting function, including billing, credit control and budgeting.
  • A software design and sale company: Financial accounts, and assistance in an Inland Revenue tax enquiry, overseas accounts, setting up a share scheme, and ultimate sale of the company
  • A property management group: Financial controls, liaison with auditors, tax strategies, acquisition and sale plus assessment of new businesses.
  • A Midlands factory site: running a series of negotiations with national builders for an ex-industrial site owned by a US multi-national.
  • A superstore construction company: Advice on financial controls, acquiring and financing key staff, negotiating a joint-venture, and accounts presentation.
  • A change-management consultancy: Assessment of investment opportunities, and drafting of business plan which raised venture capital finance.
  • A property investment group: Financial reporting, structuring the move off-shore of the directors, assisting on the sale of a riverside site.
  • An accountancy practice: Acted as the tax department of this two-partner firm.
  • An R&D advisory boutique: Providing vital input on the interaction of this complex legislation with company reporting and corporation tax returns.
  • A manufacturing business: Assisted in negotiation and assessment of site offers to allow relocation of a factory in Kent.
  • An incentive consultancy: Assisted in assessing corporate venturing investment opportunities and devising exit plans on investments.
  • An underwater optics company: Put together the business plan and assisted in negotiations with a giant US corporation, over £250,000 raised.
  • An architectural products company: Prepared financial plans and drafted presentations for venture capitalists and business angels.
  • A property investment company (around thirty residential units): Financial control and project management
  • A computer security company: assisting in preparing financial records to permit a VC investment of £100,000. Advising the owners through a number of key issues including a Workplace Pension, appearing before an Employment Tribunal, and managing legal processes.
  • A number of franchisees providing training to young children: Accounting and drafting partnership agreements for sole traders, corporate and LLP entities.
  • Setting up the UK arm of a Polish Game Design company: Formation, set-up and pass-over to Polish team.
  • A Business Advice firm: Acting as a mentor to this full service company.
